Artist Statement:

My artwork takes an analytical view of social, political and cultural tensions. Through expressive cinematic language, I narrate from trivial to enormous concerns of society. By studying violence, conspiracy, folk culture and recent lifestyle changes, I am able to produce familiar visual signs which are arranged to create a new conceptually layered piece. My presentation is as important as the theme of my work. Often these themes are combined into installations that feature mundane domestic objects painted in folk style. Further, I have included in my projects sparkling colorful collage of references to Popular Art juxtaposed with objects or various sizes of canvases which are often embellished with stenciled texts. The subject matter of each body of work determines the materials and the formation for that work. While I use a variety of materials and processes in each project my blueprint is consistent with my Asian Methodology. All my projects are linked via my approach, my inner conflict, my contradictions with prefabricated ideas, in order for me to trace the common worry of our society whether ideological, economical or socio-political. My projects consist of multiple works, often in a range of different media, grouped around specific themes and meanings. During research and production phase, new areas of interest arise within me which leads to my next body of work.
